HEARTWORM
A CSU parasitologist recommends yearly prevention and every other year testing. It may seem surprising with such cold winters.. However, research shows there are microclimates during times of warmer weather mosquitos will hatch and potentially cause heartworm infection for our dogs. Also, there has been an increase in prevalence along the front range. If your dog has been off heartworm preventative for more than 2 months, testing first to ensure negative infection is recommended.
